How 'Grey's Anatomy' Mom Ellen Pompeo Manages 3 Kids, Pets And A Husband As A Working Mother

"Grey's Anatomy" actress Ellen Pompeo, 47, is a working mom who juggles a busy household. On top of having young children under the age of seven with husband Chris Ivery, Pompeo's home also includes four dogs, four chickens and a fish.

Pompeo and her growing family recently welcomed baby Eli Christopher, who is now five-months-old. The actress confessed she wouldn't be able to handle everything that's going on in her house if not for her baby nurse Jackie.

"I'd be nowhere without her because I work long days and I need help caring for him," Pompeo told Ellen DeGeneres when she visited the talk show host this week, as per People. "[Jackie's] got my back," she added.

Her baby boy is already learning to sleep through the night and Pompeo said she needs Jackie for her to sleep through the night as well so she can function the next day. As a TV actress on a long-running series, Pompeo works every day. She wouldn't be able to keep with the demands of being a working mom without Jackie's help, hence she's grateful for her.

Her husband also works as a music producer. She met Ivery in 2003 and they dated for years until they married in 2007. Before Eli, the pair welcomed daughter Stella Luna in 2009 and Sienna May arrived in 2014 via surrogacy.

Meanwhile, the actress is about to make her debut as a director on "Grey's Anatomy." Pompeo's episode will air on Thursday, March 30, on ABC, as per Too Fab.

"I definitely had an advantage being there for 13 seasons," the working mom said. She related it was television icon Debbie Allen who pushed her to direct for the first time. "She really wasn't going to take no for an answer and enough women really don't get the opportunity to direct, so I thought, who am I to get the opportunity and say no."
