'X-Men: Apocalyse' Spoilers: The Phoenix Resurrects; Stan Lee Teases Cameo Role

It is surely a delight for "X-Men" fans to wait for another franchise. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is on its way, and as we near its release date, more and more details about the film were revealed.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will be the genesis of the new era of "X-Men" as director Bryan Singer puts it: "[X-Men: Apocalypse] is about how the X-Men truly started," according to MoviePilot. The report suggests that the upcoming flick sets out the events 20 years earlier before the first franchise was released.

The film will feature the beginnings of "X-Men" as a team within the timeline set in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," being its sequel. Thus, the production will introduce new set of actors to play the younger version of the characters we love.

Among the new faces in the film is the "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner, who will be portraying the young Jean Grey or the Phoenix. Actress Famke Janssen was the original Jean Grey in the first three "X-Men" film. However, the character lacks an interesting story line being projected as Wolverine's unachievable love interest.

Jean returned in "X-Men: The Last Stand" where she was highlighted as the resurrected Dark Phoenix, who failed to control the massive power within her, killing her Cyclops and Professor X  in the process.

Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto took her away to use as a pawn in his plot. When the film was about to end, Jean pleaded Wolverine to kill her so she cannot do more harm and although it is difficult for Wolverine, he finally complied.

However, in the last franchise "Days of Future Past" when Wolverine travels back to the present, Jean was still  alive. The events that  led to her death did not occur in the current timeline. Turner had hinted that she was cast for the role for her portrayal of Sansa's dark side, which suggests that fans will be seeing the dark side of Jean, leading to the speculation that the Phoenix will resurrect.

In the movie, Jean will be struggling with her power and her being an outcast amongst humanity, which explains how she ended up with her dark side.

On the other hand, Stan Lee talked about his cameo in the film which he described as something very different than what he did before. "That cameo is different than any I have ever done before because I did it with another person who is very important to me," said Lee said. "I can't tell you more than that. No, you've got to see it."

In an earlier report from Parent  Herald, Lee shared that his favorite cameo is the one he did in the new "X-Men." "I did a cameo for the next 'X-Men' movie....It's a different cameo in that it has one additional thing in it," Lee said.

"X-Men: Apocalpyse" premieres on May 27, 2016.
