Jobs for teens are everywhere nowadays. Teens could work part-time or even as freelancers. Having a job while young not only gives them extra income for their expenses, but it also teaches them valuable lessons unlike just staying at home and watching Netflix.

Not only do high school students gain valuable work experience, but they also become more independent and gain transferable skills. If you want your teen to have a good first job, here are 9 high paying work for high school students.

Mowing loans

One of the most profitable jobs for teens is one that knows how to mow loans. Non-professionals pay $40 to $60 per lawn, usually about two hours. Your children should remember to set some cash for tool fuel and maintenance.

Tutor

Many parents hire tutors to help their children catch up with subjects that they find challenging. Some hire them to prepare their kids for SATs, while others want to prevent their children from getting a performance to backslide from an eight-to-ten week school hiatus.

Now that there is a pandemic, some schools are postponing their openings, so it delays students' learning. All the more that tutors are needed to provide virtual education if their schools have no plans of starting soon. On average, high school tutors get $30 to $40 per hour, based on Care.com.

Youth sports referee

Youth referees usually need training and certification, but entry-levels is only a day-long program. Some sports allow kids ages 12 to 14. In Boston, the lowest age group to work as junior soccer referees get paid at $25 a game. Novice ice hockey referees in Minneapolis get paid at $36.

Restaurants, bars, and fast food establishments hire high school servers and pay them $11.42 on average. You take orders, send them to the kitchen, prepare food, refill drinks, and collect payments from customers.

Lifeguard

Teens who have completed Red Cross lifeguard certifications could get paid at an average of $9.25 per hour. This applies to those who work in swimming pools. Lifeguards at beaches, lakes, and waterparks get around $20 per hour.

Dog walker

Teens who love dogs could walk other people's pups and get paid $15.23 per hour on average. All you have to do is to exercise their dogs and have them socialize with other animals.

Actor

Teens who enjoy acting and have experience in theatres or school plays could work as actors. On average, they could get $11 per hour.

Golf caddy

Working at a local country club as a golf caddy is one of the highest-paying jobs for teens who love links. Junior caddies usually start at age 14 by learning the skill and carrying one bag. By carrying two bags for 18 holes, a teen golf caddy could earn around $100 to $120.

Construction worker

Construction work needs seasonal workers, especially during harsh winters. Teens aged 16 could start working without certification. They will get paid at $15 to $20 per hour. Naturally, labor-intensive jobs pay more.
