Celebrity Moms: Chrissy Teigen Chose Baby's Gender During IVF, Says John Legend 'Deserves A Girl'

Chrissy Teigen has been openly talking about the fertility issues she and her husband, John Legend, have been facing. The Sports Illustrated model even revealed that through her in vitro fertilization, she was able to pick out the sex of her first child.

"I've made this decision," Chrissy Teigen told People while talking about her new cookbook, "Cravings." "Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, 'Let's put in the girl.'"

"I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. That excited me," Teigen explained. "It excited me to see ... just the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserve that bond." Apparently, Teigen has this notion that guys - especially John Legend himself - turn into someone different when they've become a father to a daughter. "How soft they get, how mushy, and excited they get. It's so cute," Chrissy shared.

Just because Chrissy chose a baby girl, though, doesn't mean they don't want a baby boy. In fact, Teigen even shared that they're planning to have a baby boy sometime in the future.

"A boy will come along. We'll get there too, so it's not like we really have to pick. But he definitely is lucky to have a little girl. And this girl is going to be so completely lucky to have John as her papa - it's crazy," she continued.

According to E! News, choosing a baby's sex is possible through preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) or preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), which are optional "add-ons" fertility clinics offer with IVF treatments, although they have been the subject of controversy.
