Who would have thought that the friendly banter between Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan was just for a show? But after last week's meltdown, it seems that Ripa is ready to make a comeback to the show on Tuesday.
"I wanted to thank you all for giving me the time to process this new information," Ripa wrote in an email, as per AL.com. "Your kindness, support, and love has overwhelmed me. We are a family and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday morning."
The agreement for Kelly Ripa's comeback came after the consultations between ABC executives and Ripa's representatives at CAA. However, it's unclear what specific agreement was reached since an ABC spokeswoman refused to comment on the issue, CNN reports.
"Live! With Kelly And Michael" Controversy
Kelly Ripa was the talk-of-the-town last week when she called in sick and did not report to work. According to TMZ, Ripa was furious that her cohost Michael Strahan was ditching their show for "Good Morning America."
Ripa's nonattendance was reportedly her protest since she felt "blindsided" that she was not informed about Strahan's departure. However, it's not only Ripa who's unaware because longtime producer Michael Gelman was also left in the dark.
There were also reports claiming that 45-year-old Kelly Ripa was supposedly warned in advance about the plans of her cohost and former NFL player Michael Strahan. Unfortunately, the story circulated early and ruined the plan.
Michael Strahan's Reaction On Kelly Ripa's Return
Despite the drama that unfolded in "Live! With Kelly and Michael" last week, 44-year-old Stahan is looking forward to have Ripa back on the show. A source reveals Strahan understood Ripa's feelings but stressed it was out of his control and has been reaching out to her to return on the show, People notes.
During Kelly Ripa's absence, Strahan was hosting the show with guest cohosts Erin Andrews, Ana Gasteyer and Shay Mitchell. But during the show's episode on Wednesday, Strahan gave a message of gratitude to Kelly Ripa.
"I really want to thank, of course, Kelly Ripa," he said. "Kelly welcomed me here, and I've learned so much from her. She's just been an amazing influence on me and this has truly changed my life to be here with her. Kelly, I thank you. I love you and everyone else here at 'Live!'
Meanwhile, Michael Strahan explained the reason behind Kelly Ripa's weeklong absence when he opened the show Monday. Strahan said Ripa took a scheduled day off to celebrate her 20th wedding anniversary with her husband, Mark Consuelos, as per Page Six.
