The rumored trade between Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets has gained momentum in recent weeks. Now, new reports are claiming that Kenneth Faried and Gary Harris will be traded to the Lakers, while Julius Randle and Nick Young will head to the Nuggets.
The Nuggets has been shopping Faried for quite some time now in time for the NBA 2016-17 season. That rumor sparked again after tweets from TheNBACentral and MySportsRumor claiming that the Lakers and Nuggets are discussing a trade deal that involves Faried/Harris and Young/Randle. In July, Mile High Sports writer Aniello Piro claimed that "it's only a matter of time before a deal is worked" to trade Faried to the Lakers and that "a breakup is evident."
Piro added that the Nuggets are "aggressive" in its quest to propel the team into a winning status, and they realized that Faried is "the odd man out in the winning formula" they are trying to formulate. The power forward averaged 12.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in his five years with the Nuggets.
Faried and the Nuggets have issues as well. A league source said Faried "isn't well liked" in the team even though he is an excellent and hard-working player. The insider added that Faried thinks he's "the guy" because of the whopping $50 million contract extension the Nuggets gave him in 2014, ESPN reported.
Some fans, however, are opposed to the rumored trade between the Lakers and Nuggets. Daniel C. Lewis of SB Nation said that Randle and Young will be "harmful" to the Nuggets chemistry. Lewis stressed that Randle "isn't a starter" for the Lakers, while Young is "a trash player" with serious problems off-court.
Young can be an active scorer, as evident in his more than 17 points per game twice since he landed in the NBA. His 2015-16 season, however, only averaged 7.3 points per game on 34 percent shooting, The Inquisitr noted.
Nugg Love, meanwhile, said the Nuggets won't be getting their players' worth if they trade for Randle. Harris had a brilliant performance during the Summer League and averaged 12.3 points last NBA season. Exchanging Randle for Faried appears to be a fair trade, but the Lakers would have to give up another player that is not Young for Harris.
