UFC 206 Latest News & Updates: Cormier v Johnson For Light Heavyweight Title In Toronto?

This December, UFC Light Heavyweight title holder Daniel Cormier will come face-to-face once again with top contender Anthony Johnson. This time, to defend his title belt at the upcoming UFC 206. The event will be on Dec. 10 at Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

According to Fox Sports, Daniel Cormier announced the fight against Johnson on Wednesday night's edition of "UFC Tonight"-going as far as taunting Anthony Johnson with a knockout win.

"Anthony knows what's going to happen; I know what's going to happen; the fans know what's going to happen," Daniel Cornier said. "I'm going to stand right in front of him, knock him out right in the middle of the octagon."

Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson faced each other in May 2015 during UFC 187 -- both fighters were eyeing the vacant Light Heavyweight title belt left by Jon Jones after being arrested for legal charges in Mexico. Daniel Cormier came out victorious in the fight after pinning Anthony Johnson down in the third round with a rear-naked choke.

Since his loss in UFC 187, Anthony Johnson has won three consecutive matches in the octagon. Anthony Johnson won all three matches via knockout, finishing his latest bout against Glover Teixeira at UFC 202 in just under 13-seconds which earned him the pass to face Daniel Cormier once again.

As for Daniel Cormier, he has successfully defended the belt from Alexander Gustafsson via split decision in UFC 192 after a 5-round battle. Daniel Cormier was then scheduled to fight Jones in UFC 200.

However, according to Sportsnet, the former Light Heavyweight champion was pulled from the match days before UFC 200 due to potential doping violations and was replaced by Anderson Silva. Daniel Cormier won via unanimous decision.

After testing positive for two estrogen-blocking substances, Jones might be given a two-year suspension. Jones' uncertain UFC career opened the opportunity for a Cormier-Anthony rematch.
