Kate Middleton Joins Talk On Mental Health, Reveals Motherhood Can Make Moms Feel Isolated

Kate Middleton recently revealed how motherhood can make a mom feel lonely and isolated. The Duchess of Cambridge's revelation came after husband Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry opened up about their struggles when grieving their mother Princess Diana's death.

Princess Kate and Prince William have two kids together, 3-year-old Prince George and 2-year-old Princess Charlotte. Earlier this week, the Duke of Cambridge said that he wants his children to talk about their emotions and teach them about being honest when it comes to their feelings. Duchess Kate, on the other hand, said that she heard a mother's admission of needing a friend when they raised their children, especially when their babies were still young.

"Actually, so many other mothers are going through exactly what you're going through," Middleton told Katie Massie-Taylor and Sarah Hesz, the co-founders of the Mush app that aims to help new moms, The Telegraph noted. "But it's being brave enough, like you obviously were, to reach out."

Aside from her conversation with Massie-Taylor and Hesz, Middleton also went to the Global Academy school in Hayes with Prince William and Prince Harry. The school opening was where she met with the Mush app co-founders.

Princess Kate revealed during the Global Academy school visit that many parents face the same overwhelming issues she faced when raising her two young kids. She urged them that mental health awareness should be something openly talked about at ay age and pointed out it is best if children start to talk about it at an early age, ABC News reported.

Furthermore, the Duchess said that very young children will not be able to express what they feel so finding what would be the best way to address the mental health issues early on is great. She explained that some kids tend to develop behavioral problems if their mental health is overlooked.

As for Prince Harry, he said that many people stereotyped mental health with depression and this turned people away. He encouraged others to talk about the subject lightly instead of negatively.

Mental health covers the emotional, psychological and social well-being of people. It affects how people think, feel and act at any stages of life.
