'Trolls' Cast Update: Justin Timberlake Joins Anna Kendrick In Animated Musical

Singer and actor Justin Timberlake makes another bid for the big screen as he has been signed on to voice one of the lead characters in the musical animated movie "Trolls."

According to Deadline, Justin will voice the character of Branch, who is described as a "hardcore survivalist," and he will join Anna Kendrick in the cast. The actress was already signed for the movie back in June, according to Variety. She will lend her voice to Princess Poppy. Together with Branch, the two characters will travel "far beyond the only world they have ever known, [and] their quest will test their strength and reveal their true colors—with no shortage of musical mash-ups along the way!" the press release from the news outlets stated.

The movie, which is produced by Dreamworks Animation, is based on the Troll dolls that have wild, colorful hair. The dolls were first sold in the market in the 1960s by Thomas Dam, a Danish fisherman, who based it on Scandinavian mythology, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the 1990s, the dolls became popular. In fact, Time Magazine ranks the Troll doll as one of the 100 Greatest Toys of all time.

Directing "Troll" will be Mike Mitchell and Walt Dohrn, who have worked together in "Shrek Forever After." The movie is being planned for release in November 2016.

Meanwhile, Justin recently proudly shared that his five-month-old son, Silas, with wife, Jessica Biel, has finally learned to say "Da-da," the baby's first word, according to E! Online.  While dropping on Jimmy Fallon's "The Tonight Show," the 34-year-old father talked fatherhood with the late night host.

"It is the most insanely, amazing, most beautiful, unbelievable thing that could ever happen to you," he told Jimmy.

The singer-actor also showed Jimmy adorable photos of his wife and child. One had Silas smiling straight to the camera as his dad was holding his up, while the other was of the baby and his mom after he had just taken a bath.

Before Silas was born, Justin and Jessica agree they will be hands-on with the baby, according to OK! Magazine. In fact, Justin prepared for the arrival by reading up. He's been totally transformed by this new responsibility. He has also become an ideal husband, which was a real revelation for Jessica. "She knew he'd rise to the occasion, despite being totally terrified of fatherhood and its responsibilities, but he's surpassed all expectations and is proving to be the perfectly doting husband," a source told OK!
