Parenting is a very individual act and there is no one specific rule that everyone needs to follow. No father or mother is the same, just like no two children are the same. This is the reason why numerous people, including celebrities, raise their kids in the way that they see fit.

Although there are some instances wherein a piece of parenting advice may be weird or ridiculous, there is no doubt that it works for them and their family. Famous parents though have the platform to share their bizarre and eye-brow raising parenting decisions. Here are some of them:

Do not use a microwave

Kourtney Kardashian said on her app and her website that she never uses microwaves and she does not serve microwavable foods to her kids. She wrote on her blog that when she had her son Mason, she did a lot of health-related research and she decided to get rid of microwaves in their home when she read that the toxins from plastic containers can be transferred to the food when reheated, and this applies to BPA-free plastic containers as well. However, scientists say that there is no need to forego the convenience of a microwave oven, as long as you are following the instructions from the manufacturer.

No nannies or babysitters

Mayim Bialik is known for her adherence to attachment parenting, which involves being a mom 24/7, and she never uses babysitters or nannies. The Big Bang Theory star said that it is not because she thinks that they are better than anyone else, but it is just a personal decision that they want to be the caregivers for their kids. So they are making it work that way, because that is what they feel is the best for their children, and everything else fits in around that. To them, nothing is more important than being with their children at any given point of the day.

Do not be afraid to ask for help

Elizabeth Banks thinks that parents should still know when they can do things on their own, and when they need to ask for help. Being a parent can be overwhelming, but there are still times when overwhelming becomes too much to handle. These are times when you should ask for help, and there is nothing wrong with it.

Be a hands-on parent

Ewan McGregor is a very hands-on father. He said that the secret to being a great parent is being there for your children, even when you are tired from work or tired from an all-day shoot. The connection between a parent and child is very important and Ewan McGregor says you should still immerse yourself in their world entirely, even for a short while.

Give your kids the chance to decide

Kids are creative and smart enough to know what they want and what they do not want, and in the case of Angelina Jolie, she lets her kids figure out how they want to express themselves. She believes in the power of letting her kids figure out who they want to be in life, with a little help from her of course.
