Postpartum on mothers

Giving birth can trigger numerous emotions. You can feel joy and excitement but you can also feel anxiety and fear. However, some mothers may fall into depression, which can be dangerous.

As Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave said on her Instagram account, each mother has a different journey and having baby blues after giving birth is perfectly normal. Changes in your body can happen too, and you may experience mood swings, difficulty in sleeping, crying spells and anxiety. Postpartum anxiety may start within the first two to three days after giving birth and it should only last for two weeks.

However, there are mothers that may experience a more severe form of depression known as postpartum depression and if it not treated immediately, it can last for years. It is important for mothers to remember that postpartum depression is not a sign of weakness nor is it a character flaw. If you feel any symptoms of postpartum depression, it is best to contact an expert immediately.
