Chris Brown Wants To Be A 'Sober Parent' For Daughter Royalty; Singer Granted Joint Temporary Custody of His Baby

Chris Brown has vowed to completely cut off alcohol and hard partying as he plans to live a sober life for the sake of his daughter.

According to Hollywood Life, the singer is inspired to change his lifestyle following a judge's decision to grant the 26-year-old celebrity temporary joint custody of Royalty.

"Chris is weening himself off drinking and other stuff he does because he wants to be healthy, have a clear mind, and be a completely conscious and sober parent. He doesn't want anyone or anything clouding his mind or judgment," the source told the news outlet exclusively. "He wants to witness every little single thing Royalty does with a clear mind. He wants to fill his mind with sober memories of her doing the smallest things like tying her shoes, being potty trained, you name it," the source added.

Last week, a judge from Houston, where the custody battle between Chris and his baby's mother, Nia Guzman was filed, said that Chris and Nia will have to have 50/50 custody of their daughter. The order was for Royalty to go back and forth her parents' care every four days, according to TMZ. Since Nia is already living in Los Angeles, this arrangement will hopefully not become a problem. Chris' mother will also be around Royalty when the baby girl is staying at her father's place.

In addition to the custody arrangement, the judge also ordered the singer to pay Nia $2,500 for monthly child support. This is the same amount Chris has been giving his baby mama before the pair went to court. To celebrate the judge's decision, Chris brought his daughter on stage during a performance in Albuquerque last week, according to Mirror.

The singer also posted a photo of him and his daughter playing together right before the show on his Instagram account. "Before the show activities. Playing doctor. Honestly I have more fun doing this than going out the club. #feelinglikeanoldman," Chris captioned the photo.

But all is not over for this custody drama as there will still be mediations in the next few weeks. Hence Chris is making sure that things will progress to a more permanent arrangement in his favor. Aside from ditching alcohol and partying, the celebrity has also made changes with his security staff to ensure that Royalty is well-protected when she's with Chris.

Nia's lawyers have reportedly asked Chris for a hair and urine test during the last hearing and are awaiting the results of it, according to another TMZ report.
