The sixth and final film of the popular science fiction action-horror film series "Resident Evil" is already in the works. The production team for "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" has been working on it and they have already made some developments, including putting up an impressive cast for the said film.

Among the new actors to join the cast are "Orange is the New Black" star Ruby Rose, "Game of Thrones" actor Iain Glen, William Levy, and Eoin Macken, according to Deadline.

Fans of Milla Jovovich will surely be delighted with this report because the actress will still be playing the character of Alice for the sixth time. For sure, it's not a surprise that Jovovich will still lead the film, but her fate in the movie remains a mystery.

On the other hand, Ali Larter will also be reprising her role. Larter will be playing the character of Claire Redfield, the role she started playing in 2007's "Resident Evil Extinction" and came back for "Resident Evil: After Life." The character was missing 2012's "Resident Evil: Retribution," perhaps because she was last seen being kidnapped, CinemaBlend has learned.

Moreover, Shawn Roberts is set to return in the final installment. Roberts has been playing a key role in the series since his debut as the villainous Albert Wesker. His character was best known as the head of the Umbrella Corporation but this time his character will be going through a huge transformation because according to the report, he will be going from antagonist to protagonist. Roberts will team up with Alice to stop the ultimate evil, which is the artificially intelligent Red Queen.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the final franchise will pick up immediately where the "Resident Evil: Retribution" left off. It will feature the humanity on its last legs after Wesker betrayed Alice. As the last survivor of the humanity's stand, Alice will return to Racoon City, where the nightmare began and where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces to prepare for a final strike against the remaining survivors of the apocalypse.

With a limited time, Alice will have to work with friends and an unlikely ally to survive in a battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Alice will be torn between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella's impending attacks as she struggles to fight and save the humanity which is on the verge of oblivion.

Among the possible cast are Wentworth Miller, Bingbing Li, Sienna Guillory and Johan Urb, Bloody Disgusting has learned. The final release did not include these names but there were speculations that they have been cast.

"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" will be released on Jan. 27, 2017.
