Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson Reunites with Daughter for the First Time in 45 Years

Phil Robertson of "Duck Dynasty" found out that he has a daughter from an affair during the 1970s, according to the "USA Today."

Phil said that he has been open about his past. He added that it is not something to be proud of, but he was in a very dark place, and God has brought light to him.

He said that God is amazing for bringing beauty in our messes because he makes beauty out of the ashes, and his daughter is living proof of that.

Phil's sons revealed his daughter on a podcast

During a podcast provided in advance for "USA Today," Phil and his sons revealed the developing father-daughter relationship. He has a regular podcast "Unashamed with Phil Robertson" on his YouTube channel.

Phil's sons said all of them, including their mom "Miss Kay," have welcomed Phyllis, Phil's 45-year-old daughter, and her husband and children. Phyllis asked Jase about his mom on the podcast, where he said that she does not have to worry about his mom.

Phil initially thought it was a son

Phil said that his wife warned him that someone would come out of his past, and she thought that it was a son. Luckily, Phil said that it was a daughter because he had always wanted to have one.

The family did not want to give details about Phyllis, but Miss Kay said that she and Phil's daughter would join the next podcast on Sunday at 3 PM on Phil's YouTube channel. There they will introduce Phyllis Robertson.

Three months ago, Phyllis approached Al and Jase that through DNA testing, she learned that she might be Phil's daughter, so she sent them letters for the explanation. The sons approached their dad, Phil, who agreed immediately to have a DNA test.

Phil said that he would bring her down after learning that their DNA matched. After then, the family has established the relationship. Jep told Phyllis over the phone that he has always wanted a big sister, and he was excited because it was like a dream come true for him.

Jase said that after he heard that the DNA matched and after speaking with her, he told his wife, Missy, that he likes her, and it is fantastic.

Christianity runs in the Robertson family

The sons also shared that Phyllis has done mission work being a devout Christian. Willie said that it is what he expected in their family. The "Duck Commander" Phil is a devout Christian today. He got converted in the mid-1970s after he has had unfaithful rogue making his marriage on the rocks.

Phil wrote in his latest book "The Theft of America's Soul" that he spiraled down into his desires into booze, pills, and easy women. He also wrote that he was not a hippie, but he enjoyed the fruits of the sexual revolution leaving Miss Kay to tend to their children on her own at home.

Phil Robertson's daughter is a gift

Phil said on his podcast that his daughter is an explanation of redemption, reconciliation, and love. He quoted scripture of Romans 8:28: "In all things God works for the good of those who love him."
