'Thor: Ragnarok' Plot & Cast: Loki Done With Marvel Films? Tom Hiddleston Says, 'I Don’t Know' When He'll Return

"Thor: Ragnarok" is among the anticipated films of Marvel Studio's Phase Three slate. Chris Hemsworth will take the lead role again, but aside from this, only very little detail about the upcoming flick is known. In fact, the movie's supporting cast, plot description and director remain unannounced.

The recent reports about the film involve Tom Hiddleston, the actor who outstandingly played the trickster god, Loki. Comingsoon.net  asked the actor if Loki will be playing a multi-layered/sympathetic character or if he will be a full-blown supervillain in "Thor: Ragnarok."

"I don't know. I think I won't be able to help it if I ever play him again, and I just don't know when that's gonna happen, if that's gonna happen," said Hiddleston. "I would never lose his dimension, but it's so interesting.  I've talked with Chris Hemsworth, how those characters have changed as we've changed. It's five years ago since I played him for the first time. That's a long time ago. So who knows what I'll be cooking up!"

CinemaBlend believes that Hiddleston has no idea with Loki's future, and it's possible that Marvel is keeping him in the dark because they know that the actor will be asked about it in various interviews. After all, we know that Marvel is very secretive when it comes to their films.

However, there's a big chance that the God of Mischief will return in "Thor: Ragnarok." Aside from being one of the most popular characters, Loki has a significant contribution in the storyline.

The report suggests that the audience has to see Loki again because of the cliffhanger in "Thor: The Dark World" where it was revealed in the final minutes that he did not die in Svartalheim. In fact, he returned to Asgard to steal the throne from his adoptive father Odin (Anthony Hopkins).

Moreover, the finale of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" features the God of Thunder returning to his home, where he is about to discover the hell Loki made during his absence.

However, the report suggests that Loki will not be the central villain in the film. Instead, he will be back in a strong supporting position to Josh Brolin's Thanos. Thanos will be the bad guy in the film.

The last time Thor was featured, he was going on a mission to learn more about the Infinity Stone and the Tesseract, which is kept in Odin's Treasured Room. Both elements can lead to the Mad Titan visiting Asgard, which may result to apocalypse as the title suggests.

"Thor: Ragnarok" will premiere on Nov. 3, 2017.
