Nicole Kidman Children & Divorce: Mom Talks About Kids With Ex Tom Cruise, Texts To 'Stay In Touch' But Doesn't Let It Rule Her Life

The relationship between Nicole Kidman and her two older children with ex-husband Tom Cruise has always remained a mystery to the public. But the actress gave a hint of what it's really like when she spoke with Dujour Magazine.

The Oscar winning actress said that she keeps in touch with Bella, 22, and Connor, 20, who both live with their father, by sending text messages or using the internet. "I have four children, so to stay in touch with them it's very important," the actress said when asked about how she communicates with her kids. "I'm definitely engaged in it but I don't let it rule my life."

Nicole shuttles between her homes in Sydney, where she's from, and Nashville, where her husband, Keith Urban, is from, but they also have a house in Los Angeles. The couple have two daughters together, Sunday Rose, 7 and Faith Margaret, 4.

To be in different places, it's important to be constantly connected with family, but the Hollywood star admits she and her husband hardly text or email each other.  "Once in a blue moon, we'll text. But mainly we say, 'I want to hear your voice.' That's very unusual but we've been together for 10 years," she told the magazine.

"We started like that and we haven't changed it. We don't email each other either. So it's about trying to keep it as intimate and personal as possible," she added.

The couple celebrated the ninth year of their marriage last June, according to People, and Nicole remains enamored by Keith after all these times. "I have an incredible husband who is so willing to get on planes and fly places, even if it's for a night," she said. "He flew 10 hours to come and be with me for the night, and then he flew back and did a gig. That for me is love in action," the actress adds, saying she would do the same for Keith.

Meanwhile, Nicole vows to never speak about Scientology out of respect for Bella and Connor, who practice the same beliefs like their father, according to US Weekly. "They are generous, kind and hardworking. And these are traits that I love to see in my children," she told Women's Weekly in a 2014 interview, the news outlet reported. The actress also admitted that her grown kids have chosen to live with Tom after their divorce, "I'd love them to live with us, but what can you do?"
