2021 is set to begin with the launch of DC Future State. But it comes with bad news for Batman enthusiasts. SPOILER ALERT! Apparently, Bruce Wayne is set to die gunned on the street like his parents did.

Origin of Batman Story

Bruce was only 8 years old when a family bonding night went wrong. His parents, surgeon and philanthropist Dr. Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne were shot dead.

It was this incident that roused the young Master Wayne to become a vigilante. It was found out that Gotham city mugger Joe Chill killed his parents. In the comics, Joe fled to his comrades who later also shot him dead after learning he was the reason why Batman came to be in existence.

DC Future State Preview

At first, Gotham City took shelter under the Batman's wings. He kept them safe, but also lured in enemies. Apparently, Gotham City is set to turn its back against the city's hero because of the many crossfire between the vigilante and the villains.

A DC Future State preview revealed that Gotham will eventually reject vigilantism. The preview is a short excerpt that revealed the shocking end of Bruce Wayne. He is set to be gunned down in an alley. Of course, there are theories that Bruce may have just faked his death to escape Gotham's ill plans.

There is also a difference between both instances. While Tom and Martha Wayne died in a mugging incident gone wrong, the grown-up Bruce has been targeted. The other DC Future State previews also have the rest of the Bat-Family deliberately targeted.

DC Books on the rest of the Bat Family including Robin and Night Wing end two years before Bruce Wayne's death. There are theories on the Dark Detective series that Batman will be the last defender of Gotham, Screenrant reported.
