Many couples miss out on celebrating the romantic holiday last year. On Valentine's Day 2021, while the pandemic is far from over, there have been new normal guidelines set to make a safe and romantic date possible this year.

Whether you have been in a relationship since pre-pandemic, stuck with a long-distance relationship due to the virus, or are looking for a safe way to find a date this year, these Valentine's Day 2021 ideas will surely help.

How to Be Safe this Valentine's Day 2021

Marriage counselor and family therapist Beverley Andre noted that with the pandemic, couples are keen on celebrating safely, trying to minimize exposure, all while keeping the romantic feel of Valentine's Day, NBC News reported. Limitations only set precedence for creativity, revealed experts.

New Method Wellness clinical director Deanna Crosby noted that Valentine's Day is special because it means taking a break from the monotonous day-to-day of relationships.

In fact, family therapist Caroline Madden, Ph.D., said, "all couples should make an effort to treat Valentine's Day special."

Experts advise staying at home and creating that "bubble of love" safely indoors. Couples can pamper each other with luxury bath items, romantic games, or a twist to their intimate moments with a guide book.

Valentine's Day 2021 Ideas for Different Types of Couples

For some couples who have been together 24/7 due to the pandemic lockdown, Crosby suggests that those couples give each other alone time to do something they love. This could be in the form of new books, art supplies, a day off, bubble baths, or elevating their work-from-home setup.

Other couples have no choice but to keep their distance due to the virus, lockdowns, or the cancellation of flights worldwide. For those in long-distance relationships, experts advise making extra special time together, even if just virtually.

Experts also recommend the game Skin Deep Long Term Couples Edition to build lost connection from time apart and read poems and stories to your partner, even if only through FaceTime and Zoom.

For all couples, it is wise to know of each other's love language. If gifts, consider giving a gift basket of the favorite things of your partner. If it is quality time, think at-home spa, backyard wine tasting, or living room campsite-creativity is your best friend.

If it is acts of service, consider doing something that will make your partner's daily life easier-like giving them an ergonomic chair for working from home or even just making their favorite meal.

Other love languages include giving words of affirmation through post-it notes, notes within gifts, or starting a journal of love letters. Finally, if it is physical touch, a soothing bath and massage is the way to do it.

Finding a Date for Valentine's Day 2021

If you are single, a safe way to get to know people would be through dating apps like Tinder and Bumble. Clinical director Debbie Portner revealed that the good thing about online dates is it gives you opportunities to get to know people while allowing you to weed out those who do not share the same interests, goals, faith, or values, The Daily Record reported.
