Eddie Murphy on Being a Dad to 10 Children: "I Am So Blessed With My Kids"

Eddie Murphy says he is a proud and happy father of ten children, none of whom have turned out to be "Hollywood jerks," and addresses his favorite position of all time: that of a father.

Because of the success of Dolemite Is My Name and a critically praised return to Saturday Night Live, Eddie Murphy has had a career revival recently. His greatest achievement, however, is his family.

Murphy, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role as Rudy Ray Moore, an actor, comedian, and singer in Netflix's Dolemite Is My Name, hadn't been seen onscreen in a long time. He only appeared in one film between 2012 and 2019. Now, fans will see him in the forthcoming sequel to Coming to America, dubbed Coming 2 America.

In a recent interview, the Coming 2 America star clarified that his children always come first in his life, calling them the "heart of all." He also expressed similar feelings regarding the importance of family.

He said he is turning 60 in April this year, and he has all these babies. He continued that now, his family takes precedence over his career.

In November 2018, Murphy and his fiancée Paige Butcher welcomed their second child together, son Max. They also have a four-year-old daughter, Izzy. Eric, Murphy's oldest son with Paulette McNeely, is 31 years old. He also has a 30-year-old son, Christian, with Tamara Hood, and a 13-year-old daughter, Angel, with Spice Girl Mel B.

Bella, Zola, 21, Shayne, 26, and Bria, 31, and 28-year-old son Myles are the comedian's other five children with ex-wife Nicole Mitchell Murphy. He also revealed that Myles and his wife, Evie Isla, welcomed a daughter in July 2019.

The comedian also added that the idea of making three movies a year is a waste of time for him. He also said that time and again, along the way, if you learn to prioritize your children, there will be no such thing as a bad decision.

"When you hit a crossroads moment or you have got some s***, you think, 'Well, what is best for my children?' If you go that route then you never make a bad decision," Murhy said.

Murphy, who is currently starring in Coming 2 America with his 19-year-old daughter Bella Murphy, praises his kids, whose age ranges from two to 31.

Eddie Murphy expressed how he is fortunate to have his kids. "I don't have a single bad seed in my collection." He stated. "My children are wonderful, ordinary people — none of them are like the Hollywood jerk boy."

Murphy appeared on Ellen DeGeneres's show to promote his latest film, Dolemite Is My Name, which is generating Oscar buzz for the star.

Eddie Murphy is used to having mixed reactions from fans when they hear he has ten children, and he went on to say that he usually gets two types of reactions based on gender.

"Men kind of look at me like, 'He's crazy. How much did that s*** cost?'," the comedian teased and said that women react like there is something sexy about it, I think.
