Children (and adults alike) love to play video games. A currently trending one is Roblox, which people seem to be obsessed about. But why?

Roblox has been steadily growing
since its launch in 2006, but it boosted during the lockdown in 2020, adding about 50 million monthly active users and 5 million active developers. Although the majority of developers are Roblox newbies, others have made it their full-time work.

Additionally, Roblox has joined the major leagues as a publicly traded firm, debuting the stock exchange today, with shares starting at $45 and closing at $69.50. This raises the total amount of shares outstanding to $38.26 billion.

Now, parents are wondering why their kids are becoming obsessed with Roblox. The first reason is that the simplicity with which you can invite friends to join in various virtual worlds or games is one of the platform's main features. At the touch of a button, they will spawn right next to each other.

That is, however, just half the tale. What's really happening is that this platform is taking in a lot of money. That money will pay developers for the activities and things they create and back into the platform to make it bigger and better, which exposes users to greater risks.

Everything parents need to know about Roblox to protect kids from risks

Roblox isn't a simple game in the traditional sense. It is a free interactive gameplay platform that allows players to jump between various virtual worlds and play any game they want. It is jam-packed with user-generated content from a wide range of genres and titles. The graphics are primitive, there are several glitches and bugs, and even several of the most common games are unpolished.

Roblox is an online gaming platform that allows users to play games created by other users, and build and upload their own games using Roblox Studio — the company's proprietary game development tool.

It has two equally appealing game modes: playing and making. You have unlimited access to both modes after registering. You can select from an endless supply of innovative and exciting challenges in various categories, including shooters, murder mysteries, sports, and fighting games.

Roblox Costs

Roblox operates with free and premium plans. Playing many games and using the Roblox Studio game maker is free. It also allows other features, such as animating avatars or purchasing and selling weapons, which makes use of Robux, the game currency.

Roblox Premium membership comprises three monthly subscription tiers, each of which includes a Robux allowance: $4.99 with 450 Robux, $9.99 with 1,000 Robux, and $19.99 with 2,200 Robux.

Who uses Roblox?

Anyone can use Roblox, regardless of gender and age. They can build and join groups, as well as talk and connect. In theory, anybody who can navigate through a game can benefit from the company's dedication to the theory of "constructivism," which encourages the educational benefits of curiosity, designing, and constructing.

Parental Controls

In reality, Roblox's open approach may put children, especially younger ones, at risk. Thus, Roblox has some safeguard controls in place. But, it remains a priority for those with nefarious motives.

In terms of parental control, Roblox offers account options that let parents restrict how kids can interact on the site and select the types of games they can play, among other settings.
