It's been scientifically proven that traveling alone is good for the soul

And there's no better time than after your divorce. Divorce is hard, and it's probably one of the difficult things that you'll ever go through - whether you wanted, didn't want it, or just know it's for the best.

You've spent years building your life together, making plans for your future, and having children together. It's emotionally stressful. But you have to stop spending your days filling your mind with endless thoughts of what if's, fears, and worries about the future.

It's time to start focusing on yourself so that you can be better for your children.

While vacationing might be the last thing on your mind, especially if you're newly divorced and have children, it will prove to be the best decision you've made in a long time.

Here are just some of the benefits you'll get from solo traveling,

Getting out of your comfort zone. This initially might sound stressful, and in a way, it is, but when we step out of our comfort zone, amazing things begin to happen - inner peace, a sense of confidence, and a fresh start. Independence is rewarding, and with it comes confidence.

Freedom is found. You spend most of your time thinking about your responsibilities and working around your children's schedule; you're put on the back burner. When you're on your solo adventure, you can do whatever you like whenever you'd like. Go out to dinner, have a drink, and go explore. Visit a designer sneakers womens store or a nearby mall to people-watch. You only have yourself to worry about, and it's only your needs that need to be met.

Self-discovery. When we embark on a journey of self-discovery, it's scary; after all, somewhere along the lines, as a mother, we lose who we are between our busy schedules and the constant demands that come from being a mother and wife who responds to everyone else's needs. When you're free of other people's demands, such as your ex-spouse or children, there's space for you to rediscover the things you once enjoyed - what's meaningful and important. This will prove to help you push forward when you get back home.

Find new interests. Trying new things can be invigorating. It's more than just eating food that you've never had before or listening to a new song by a band you've never heard.  Discovering something that you enjoy and uncovered by having the courage to go at it alone is amazing. It's scary when you go out to eat alone or go on a hike for the first time and do it alone in a strange new place. And finding something new that you enjoy that's your own is rewarding.

Connections & new friendships. Just because you're traveling alone doesn't mean that you have to be alone. Yes, alone time is part of this trip, but it's not all of it. Making new friends along your journey often leads to exciting adventures that you otherwise wouldn't have experienced. And that is what this trip is all about - meaningful experiences that help you discover who you are and what you're capable of.  Being forced into social settings such as going to a bar or restaurant alone leads you to opportunities to get to know others and possibly discover you are not alone on your path.

Going on a solo trip is going to be essential for your mind. You'll feel relaxed, recharged, and rejuvenated. It's likely you'll have time to start a journey of reinventing yourself or remembering who you were before you got married.

This is possible by exploring new places and getting out of your comfort zone. You'll find it helps to give you a new passion for a life filled with purpose, independence, confidence, and excitement. These are likely things that you've forgotten.

And getting back to reality will be done with a new perspective. That doesn't mean it will be easy, but it will provide you with some peace.

Start planning your first solo trip so that you can uncover a world of possibilities; there are plenty of great places that you can go, whether it's a day trip renting an Airbnb nearby home or an extended weekend vacation.
