'Once Upon A Time' Season 5 Spoilers & Premiere Recap: Dark Swan Rises Episode Details, What's Next? -- Breakdown Here

The anticipated TV series "Once Upon A Time" season 5 has finally premiered on Sunday. As expected, the show was filled with surprises, intense action and suspense.

For those who were not able to watch the premiere episode, here's a list of the biggest moments that happened:

1.       The episode's opening features a young Emma sneaking into a movie theater showing "The Sword in The Stone," she was ushered by her second cousin who warned her not to do bad things in particular, removing the Excalibur from the stone. As MTV puts it, she should not do so because probably Arthur is evil or Organ Morgan  le Fay will be released. Arthur successfully pulls out the sword, but the tip of Excalibur turned into the Dark One's dagger and he is now on the venture of finding it to heal his kingdom.

2.       Emma wanted to find Merlin to free her from the curse of the dagger, she tracks the Will-O-The Wisp that leads her to Merida. The two agreed to help each other, they will find the wisp for Merida to bring it back to their kingdom and save his brothers and she will help Emma get to Merlin, but it turned out that only one of them can use  the wisp, so Emma had to betray Merida. Emma tracks Merida  at the Hill of Stones and Rumple encouraged her to steal Merida's heart. Merida fought back but loses, Emma got her heart and was about to crush it when Hook and the company stop her, eventually Emma shoves Merida's heart back into her chest.

For those who wanted to have a glimpse of "Once Upon A Time" season 5 episode 1, here are the things to expect:

1.       Regina will be the protagonist of the show as Emma steps into the Dark Swan, according to iDigital Times. The report was confirmed by Lana Parrilla, the actress who plays Regina.

2.       Emma won't be totally consumed by the darkness when the show returns. Edward Kitsis teases Rumple's struggles before the Darkness consumed him, Emma will encounter the same struggles.

3.       Snow and Charming will be in turmoil in their quest to saving Emma. "Absolutely like any parents with a child: when you don't know how to save the child, it causes a lot of stress at home," Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly.

4.       Zelena won't be seeking redemption yet. Her pregnancy will change her, but not necessarily for the better, Kitsis teases.

5.       Season 5 will feature a prophecy introduced by Merlin.

6.       The dagger's remarkable history will be featured in the first few minutes of the episode.
