'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Cast: Nina Dobrev Returning? Nope, Actress Refuses To Reprise Role

Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" are still hoping to see Nina Dobrev in the upcoming season. It is understandable that letting go of the classic romance between Elena and Damon will be a struggle.  However, many will be disappointed because Dobrev is determined to move on from the show.

In an earlier report from Parent Herald, Dobrev announced her departure on the show in her acceptance speech after bagging the Choice TV Actress Sci-Fi/Fantasy Award at the Teen Choice Awards. In her speech, the 26-year-old actress admitted that she is afraid of change because it connotes new beginnings with "a future that was unknown."

"But change is necessary—necessary for you to grow and and to learn and to better yourself, because everything in life comes to an end.. because just like Elena, I started the show as a young girl, and together we grew up. We've grown up, and over the last six years, we've become women," said Dobrev.

According to Australia Network, a week before "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 premieres Dobrev confirmed that she will not be reprising her role. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nina shared that she is excited to see the new season. "I'll be watching. I'm very excited for my friends."

However, for those who are still wishing that Elena will come to life, it's high time to move on because the actress will not be appearing in the show anymore as Nina puts it, "That chapter is closed, sadly—bittersweet."

However, for those who still wish to see Nina, she will soon appear in the horror-comedy "The Final Girls" which will be out on Oct. 9. Dobrev will  be playing a blunt-speaking character named Vicki who was trapped in a Friday the 13th-esque slasher movie "Camp Bloodbath." She shared a glimpse of her character in the said show, "She doesn't have a censor. She's like, 'This guys's gonna kill me, we need a f-ing chainsaw, we need to do this!"

On the other hand, despite Nina's absence some still believe that "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 is on track for a freaky-deaky season just like its old days because it is simple and scary, MTV reports. Moreover, it will feature a wild Damon, an in love Stefan, a shady Alaric and will be back to the glory days of the Mystic Falls.

For those who are behind with the story, you can still catch up. "The Vampire Diaries" season 6 premieres on Oct. 2 on Netflix, International Business Times has learned. All the 22 episodes of season 6 will be available to anyone with a Netflix subscription. Meanwhile, season 7 will premiere Oct. 8 on CW.
