A California dad has unexpectedly found his long-lost brother after noticing that the man in the local weather report, who had the same last name as his, looks a lot like him.

Randy Waites from Sacramento was only tuning to the news report because he wanted to find out about the snowfall in Lake Tahoe. As he was watching the news, a man named Eddie Waites was being interviewed by the weather reporter.

The father wondered if he and Eddie could be related, given their family names. His daughter, Cambria, who was also watching the broadcast, noticed that the man on TV had the same eyes as her dad.

For the last 50 years, Randy has been searching for his biological family. He grew up not knowing anything about his dad, nor even seeing his pictures, then there was Eddie on TV, who could be a family connection.

Cambria Kicked off the Search

According to KCRA, Cambria decided to search for Eddie after that TV interview. After looking up as many details as she could, Cambria finally arranged for her father and Eddie to have their first phone call.

Randy said that he and Eddie instantly clicked as if they had been friends for years. Eddie also agreed and told KCRA that the connection was instantaneous.

When Randy and Eddie finally met face-to-face, the latter had chills from his head to his toes because Randy looked a lot like their dad. Since finding each other, Eddie has been sending Randy photos of their grandfather. He has also been sharing details of the family history that Randy has missed out on, according to People.

The long-lost brothers also found out that they lived just 30 miles away from one another. Eddie spent a weekend at Randy's house as his son, Dalton, celebrated his 13th birthday.

The long-lost brothers said that they plan on spending a lot of time with each other for as long as possible. Eddie expressed that they need to fill in the gaps and voids they both experienced in their lives.

Long-Lost Sisters Reconnected

Meanwhile, a woman from Colorado took a DNA test and discovered that she has a half-sister living in Canada. Helene Schmidt found out that there was a woman who had the same birth year as her and who was linked to her DNA profile.

After some thought and hesitation, Schmidt decided to ring Raelene Recksiedler and introduce herself. She ended up not only having a sister but also a new best friend, according to KRDO. Their reconnection also provided the sisters some clarity to their family connection.

Schmidt was born in Canada, but she was put up for adoption in 1996 and was brought to the U.S. by her adoptive parents. But 42 days before her birth, Recksiedler was also born in Canada. The sisters share the same father.

The long-lost sisters have yet to meet in person but they have been spending a lot of time on the phone and messaging each other on social media. They have also discovered more similarities in their lives.

Schmidt and Recksiedler have two daughters each, and they were both diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis, which comes from their father's bloodline. Recksiedler said that her sister's finding was perfect timing and a wonderful gift.
