Kmart issues a warning after their $29 toy, the Anko Wiggle Cart, has sold out due to a recent Tiktok trend encouraging users to visit their nearest Kmart and get their own Wiggle Cart. However, the viral TikTok sensation shows dangerous and incorrect use of the toy, putting users at serious risk of injury.

The major Australian retailer has expressed fears for the safety of users after the viral trend showed that teens were using the Anko Wiggle Cart as a ride going down parking building ramps. Said videos went viral on Tiktok with millions of views. Other teens posted videos on how to put bright lights under their carts to make them safer. Some users who purchased the wiggle carts also posted about "wiggle cart meets."

Safety concerns on Anko Wiggle Cart

An employee of Kmart commented on one of the viral videos that their store has been receiving a lot of queries and orders, and it might be due to the said stunts and trending videos of the youngsters. Although these teens seemed to be having fun, Kmart and other safety groups are concerned.

A Kmart spokesperson also said it was disappointed after learning that customers were misusing the Anko product. The product got sold out in the Australian retailer after viral videos of risky stunts in parking buildings, car parks, and on the road. The product moves as the user pushes the front pedals back and forth. Since weight and balance are crucial in the cart's operation, they are designed for safe areas and not sloping roads or open traffic.

The Anko Wiggle Cart is designed for the use of people seven years old and above. However, the weight capacity is only 50kg. The spokesperson of the Australian retailer said that they were disappointed because, despite the warnings and safety instructions included in the packaging and on the website page of Kmart, several customers still disregarded the safety precautions. These steps include wearing protective gear such as a helmet and not using the cart in open roads or vehicular traffic.

Videos of speeding Wiggle Cart users playing in car park ramps without safety gear have caused concern among different groups. Russell White, the founder and CEO of the Australian Road Safety, said serious injury may be had because riders try to use the Wiggle Cart in ways that push the boundaries. The cart is designed for use in a controlled environment, yet riders try dangerous stunts such as riding it downward.

According to the Daily Mail Online, an online search for the product show that the Anko wiggle cart is no longer available. However, a Kmart spokesperson said that the product is not discontinued but sold out both in-store and online and may not be restocked since it was only sold during a clearance sale.
