The death toll and wounded children rise, with an 18-month old boy in Ukraine fatally wounded after being hit by Russian shelling on March 5. This as the Russian invasion of Ukraine entered another day just minutes after an agreed ceasefire.

The boy, Kirill, was hit in the Mariupol, a southern city of Ukraine. He was rushed to a hospital, but the toddler was already dead. The Russian forces shelled Mariupol despite the ceasefire. The open firing in Mariupol forced the port city to stop their evacuations of civilians after the failure of the ceasefire attempt.

Failed Ceasefire

On March 6, several people killed in a mortar attack were seen on the road. They had packed suitcases with them, which means they were trying to get out of the dangers of war in the hopes of seeking asylum or refuge somewhere safe.

An attack on Irpin, a town located around 12 miles from Kyiv, resulted in civilians' deaths, including three family members. These deaths are just some of the horrific experiences of families fleeing from the Russian artillery attacks.

Ukraine First Lady Asks Media to Report Terrible Truth

According to a report, the Ukrainian First Lady said that the Russian invaders have consciously and cynically killed Ukrainian children. She also begged the media to report this "terrible truth" about Putin's forces and the horrible crimes they are committing, as per the New York Post.

Various ceasefires and humanitarian corridors arranged and coordinated by the Red Cross across Ukraine were breached and closed. According to the U.K. government, Russia did this heinous tactic of targeting populated areas to break the resistance of the Ukrainian people.

Despite the denials of Putin and the disinformation coming from Moscow, the atrocities were beyond dispute. Ukrainian deaths in various towns and cities abound ever since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

Deaths, injuries, and scenes of devastation in various residential areas in cities like Ovruch and villages like Markhalivka have also been reported.

The Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights said that the Ukrainian death toll has risen to 364, and at least 759 people were injured. At least 30 children were reported to have been killed. However, the actual numbers are believed to be higher than what has been reported. The United Nations suggested for these figures to be adjusted, and they may go up further after thorough research of the devastated residential areas.

This crisis has been considered as Europe's fastest-growing refugee crisis since World War II, with at least 1.5 million Ukrainians fleeing from the war.
