Woman Gives Birth to 3 Babies Within a Year, but They Are Not Triplets

Washington State mom Stephanie Hansen made the headlines for giving birth to three babies within a year. But they are not triplets. 

Hansen had her first baby, Daphne, on January 28, 2020. She said that she was in a new romance at the time but was not expecting to get pregnant soon enough.

Three months later, she was shocked to discover that she was pregnant with her new boyfriend, and her twins were three weeks on the way.

She gave birth on December 8, 2020, and named her twins Rubie and Penelope.

 In her interview with Today, she admitted that she initially felt "guilty" after learning that she was pregnant so soon after giving birth to her firstborn.

How is that possible?

Hansen said she learned she was pregnant after undergoing a pregnancy test ironically so she could go on birth control as she had not wanted to get pregnant right after she had just given birth.

Women typically begin ovulating at around six weeks after birth. However, an OB-GYN in Orlando, Florida, Dr. Christine Greves, clarified that it is possible to ovulate before the six-week period, which must have happened to Hanson.

The single mom admitted that she was in a new relationship then and had a "newborn fog" and was adjusting to everything.

When she learned that she was pregnant, she was overwhelmed with guilt and various emotions. She worried that Daphne might feel neglected when the newborn babies come, and she feared that she might not be able to handle three babies at once.

She said she felt sad that she might no longer have one-on-one time with Daphne. However, everything changed when she welcomed the younger twins. The mom said that the three siblings are now an inseparable trio.

The mom said that they were on the same schedule. The trio would eat, bathe and play together. They also share a room.

Life with three babies

Although Hansen said that she is no longer romantically involved with the father of the twins, the two have remained friends and co-parents. She said that her ex is always ready to help the girls. 

When the couple broke up, Hansen admitted that she was devastated. Later, she told herself that she got this and vowed not to sit around in her pajamas crying.

The single mom said that raising three babies of the same age is not easy. However, she said having them is the happiest in her life, adding that the kids are the best thing that ever happened to her.

Hansen also regularly shares her parenting journey on Tiktok Account @stphmchhans and has garnered a fan following.
