An Easter egg hunt for Easter Sunday, which falls on April 17 this year, is a given for many families, but while this holiday is about honoring traditions, there are no restrictions as to what other Easter activities to do with the kids.

If you're looking for more ideas for a fun, memorable, and egg-citing Easter celebration, here are some egg-cellent suggestions for children.

1. The Golden Egg

The Golden Egg is a variation of the Hot Potato game kids usually play as an ice breaker in school, and it's perfect for a group of 10, per Playworks. Be sure to prepare a Golden Egg that will be passed around during the game.

Let your family member form a circle facing each other and then choose the game's starter, who shall stand in the middle, singing a lively song and doing a silly dance while the egg is being passed around. When the singing and dancing stops, the person who has the Golden Egg is out of the game -- but not after he or she cues the next song and dances for the next round.

2. Guess the Number of the Candy Eggs

This is another game for the whole family, but you'll need to prepare containers filled with chocolate candy eggs. Do the game auction-style and let the family members call out the numbers. Whoever guesses the closest number, without going over, will win the treats.

You could even up the ante and prepare the biggest container to guess. The winner may get a hefty cash prize from Grandpa!

For some families, replacing the chocolate candy eggs with jelly beans might be better because jelly beans won't risk melting if the Easter party is outside.

3. Easter Egg Toss

This game will have everyone in stitches, and it's also great for building up the energy of a Sunday afternoon party. It's also a traditional game at many family reunions or birthday parties, according to Gathered Again.

Pair up family members, and then give each team a raw egg. The idea of the game is to toss the egg from one player to the other. However, with each successful toss, the players need to take one step backward. If they drop the egg and it doesn't break, they can continue playing Easter egg toss until the last pair is standing.

If the family is pressed for space, the game could be played indoors but be sure to boil the eggs first so there won't be a mess to clean up after.

4. Pin the Tail on the Bunny

Pin the tail is another classic party game that everyone knows how to play. Though it's perfect for kids below six years old, even grown-ups can join as well since the participants will be in blindfolds.

But you can prepare the materials a few days ahead by enlisting the kids to do arts and crafts to make the bunny poster. This will build their excitement for the games on Easter Sunday.

5. Break the Easter Piñata

What's more fun than an Easter egg hunt? Smashing bigger eggs in the Easter piñata! This is another fun backyard game to play, but it will take some days to prepare. It will surely be worth the effort, though, once you see the kids' faces when you bring out the piñata. You could make this the final game of the day.
