Moving to Texas and raising the family there has changed how Matthew McConaughey's family lived. His wife, Camila Alves, now calls Austin, Texas, their home.

Camila Alves is a children's book author and the founder of Women of Today. According to a report in NewsBreak, Alves shared that living in Malibu for many years with her husband and kids, Levi, Vida, and Livingston, meant that they had to live with the paparazzi every single day. There were paparazzi outside their house daily, and when it became a part of their "normal" day, they did not realize how much it was affecting their lives until they left Malibu.

"Belief System"

Camila's husband, Matthew, was born in Uvalde, Texas, while she is from Brazil. According to Camila, living in Texas meant experiencing the beliefs and practices they grew up with. She sees many similarities between Texas and Brazil, such as going to church every Sunday and being polite and courteous with their expressions.

Now that they have been living in the Lone Star state, Camila says so far, it has been great, and she would not want it any other way. According to an interview with Fox News Digital, they prefer living outside of Hollywood because it embodies their belief system.

Living with the McConaughey Matriarch

Camila's mother-in-law, Kay McConaughey, moved in with the family during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before living with the family, she had a different perspective and advice regarding raising a family. However, now that she lives with Matthew's family, she has another side, particularly with the grandchildren.

According to Alves, Kay became forgiving, and she thinks that grandparents tend to become softer. She also said that her mother-in-law's presence has been a source of great joy and that she is a significant influence in the lives of the children and the couple.

Eating Advocate

Camila is also a children's book author and a healthy eating advocate. She recently launched her first children's book called "Just Try One Bite," which portrays parents who are picky eaters and are confronted by their kids. She believes that setting up healthy eating habits early on is essential.

Camila says that since she came from a family of farmers, she understands the process from seed to table. However, having as much sugar as she wanted, she still struggles with it today, unlike Matthew, who had conversations about sugar early on. She believes that it is not simply about restrictions but having a healthy relationship with food and making better choices.

The founder of Women of Today said her experiences in Texas, like going to church every Sunday and being more into the outdoors, have been great. Plus, with the attention they have been getting while living in Malibu, the transition to Texas has been necessary because the children get to have a more private life growing up.
