Tiktok Dad Doug Weaver has been wowing his followers for sharing the lessons from his mother's "Husband in Training" program, which she taught her three sons when they were still young boys.

Now that he's married and has his own kids, Weaver said his mother's lessons prepared him to be a good partner. He is also making an effort to raise his son as a gentleman and decent human being.

In the Tiktok video, Weaver said that his mother's Husband in Training program covered how to treat women properly and lessons on consent, chivalry, etiquette, and pornography. The lessons did not just entail conversations, but his mother also had quizzes and worksheets for him and his two older brothers.

Weaver said that the Husband in Training program started as a joke with his mother. He and his brothers realized later that she was serious about teaching her sons to be gentlemen when she had them watch a video on eating etiquette.

The son said that his mother's lessons "never felt like coursework" because they allowed him and his brothers to assess their skills and introspect about the man they would like to become.

Mom Had Bad Experiences with Men Before Meeting Their Dad

Speaking with Buzzfeed, Weaver went on to say that his mother, fondly called Nana Mickey by his kids, had plenty of bad experiences with men, including the father figures in her life, before she married their dad. Her aspiration as a young mother back then was to ensure that her sons could build stable and healthy relationships outside of their family.

Nana Mickey used books, TV shows, and radio programs as her inspiration for the lessons. But her biggest inspiration was her husband, whom Weaver said continues to treat his mother perfectly well.

"My dad is and always has been my role model," Weaver said. "My mom taught me how to be a good man, and my father showed me."

As the youngest child, Weaver was about ten years old when he went into training. At that time, he admitted that he couldn't take to heart what his mother was trying to do, but everything sunk in when he became an adult.

Husband in Training Certificate of Completion

Nana Mickey presented all of her sons a certificate of completion of the Husband in Training program on each of their wedding days to validate that they are ready for the job, according to UpWorthy. Their father also had his own certificate because he also joined in the training when he saw that many of Nana Mickey's lessons weren't even taught in formal schools.

Weaver's wife, Kirsten, has attested that her husband has been exceptional as a partner, a father, and a Peace Corps volunteer, who has taught young boys in Rwanda to grow up as decent men. In her interview with BuzzFeed, Kirsten said that Nana Mickey taught his boys without putting guilt or shame. She said that she also wants her son to grow up with the same solid foundation.

Because of Weaver's TikTok videos discussing Husband in Training, Nana Mickey plans to produce videos for an online training course. Her son opened Gofund.me/448a6c0b so she could buy the needed equipment for creating, recording, and editing, including branding and marketing. The fundraiser has raised nearly $10,000.
