A teenage girl took revenge on her family by pranking them after being left out of their family photo. She posted the incident on Reddit, earning more than 20,000 upvotes and 810 comments.

Newsweek said that fellow Redditors thought the idea was funny and brilliant and assured her that her mom and stepdad made a mistake by not including her in the family photo.

Left Out of Family Photo

The 18-year-old girl, writing as "daisydelo" on Reddit, discovered that her mother, stepdad, and two younger half-siblings took group photos before Easter. When she asked her mom why they did not include her, she said they "needed them printed in time" for Easter and "at college." The girl lived only 25 minutes away.

The girl suspected her stepdad was resentful that the family included "some other guy's child" as he initially misspoke and said the photos only involved "close family."

The girl explained that her mom had her when she was 17 years old but married her stepdad years later. She now has two siblings, aged nine and 12.

Getting even

The teen girl decided to "play a little joke." As per Bored Panda, her two younger half-siblings and a pair of best friends headed to the Walmart photoshop.

Her female friend wore a bald cap to be the stepdad, while the male friend cross-dressed by wearing a wig and a denim dress to be the mom.

They took many pictures and picked a favorite: the group standing in silly action poses wearing raccoon skin between hats. They then had the picture postcard-sized.

The girl said it was a fun photo, different from their family's serious ones. She then printed it on cards and signed them with "Love, The (Name) Family."

She swapped the cards in her mom's envelopes and resealed them with her stickers.

A couple of their extended family did not look hard enough at the pictures to notice that something was amiss, and they just displayed it. However, some people messaged her mom that the image was funny, which puzzled her because she thought they talked about their boring photo sitting on a picnic blanket with a giant Easter basket.

An aunt sent a photo of the card to the family group chat and asked, "this isn't you, is it?."

The mom was furious at her for sending out the joke, embarrassing the family, and not sending the cards she had made, Interesting Lines said.

She told her mom that she did not get why she was upset about being left out of the family photo, as it seemed like it was not a big deal to be treated like not being part of the family.

The mom also said she made a mockery of her and her stepdad by having crossdressers. The young girl replied that she wanted a photo of her close family, like her stepdad, and considers her friends her most immediate family.

The mom asked her to leave; hence, she returned to her college.
