Leni Klum is All Grown Up: Teen Model Borrows Superstar Mom Heidi's Dress For Prom Night

Leni Klum follows in the fashionable footsteps of supermodel mom Heidi Klum in more ways than one. Not only is she pursuing a modeling career, but the 18-year-old also recently dipped into her famous mother's covetable closet to find the perfect dress for her prom night.

Leni showed off her black strapless number for the big night on Instagram, posting photos on the social media platform on Monday, May 16. Leni captioned the delightful snaps, writing "prom night in mamas dress," according to Page Six.

Heidi was a proud mother, with the 48-year-old model dropping a heart-eyed emoji in the comments section of her daughter's post. The blonde beauty's longtime hairstylist, Lorenzo Martin, also chimed in, calling Leni's look "perfection."

Heidi Klum wore LBD back in 1998

Heidi wore the little black dress back in 1998 for the filming of "Comic Relief VIII," a live comedy event benefiting charity and featuring appearances from Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams, Jason Alexander, and Billy Crystal, according to the Daily Mail.

The former Victoria's Secret Angel styled the dress back then with a gold lariat necklace and black peep-toe heels. Klum also had sleek, center-parted hair, which was no surprise given that it was the preferred style back in the 1990s.

Leni, whose biological father is Italian businessman Flavio Briatore and was raised by Heidi and her now-ex-husband Seal, decided to give the dress a modern spin, adding soft waves, a rhinestone-embellished Alexander Wang bag which costs $695, and a simple diamond necklace.

Leni Klum becoming a star in her own right

The fashion career of Leni has been heating up ever since the teen star covered Vogue Germany alongside her famous mother in December 2020. She appeared in the January/February 2021 issue alongside Heidi in coordinating colorful Versace outfits.

She opened Berlin Fashion Week just one month later, sending her modeling career into the stratosphere. Leni appeared in a digital presentation at Berlin Fall/Winter 2021 Fashion Week promoting several designers, including Michael Sontag and Kaviar Gauche.

Heidi's lookalike teen daughter has since starred on the covers of both Harper's Bazaar and Glamour's German editions. She then made her runway debut at Dolce & Gabbana's Alta Moda show in Venice, Italy, in August 2021. Leni told Elle after her turn on the catwalk that she honestly was not that nervous, and she just winged it.

Heidi wrote an emotional message to her daughter in a December 2020 Instagram post. E! Online managed to translate the message from German to English, with Klum telling her daughter, "I hope that no matter where you are, you always carry what I have given you over the past 16 years. For the big decisions in life, but also for the very little ones. And even if you often don't want to hear your mom's clever advice, here's another one: never do something you don't want to do and always listen to your gut instinct."
