Dallas mom Betzabeth Perez had a Mother's Day to remember after giving birth in an elevator on Sunday, May 8. Fortunately for Perez, security guard Eli Davila came to her rescue with the latter safely delivering her baby girl.

According to a report by Dallas NBC affiliate KXAS, Perez started having contractions when she and her partner, Adolfo Soto, made their way to Medical City Dallas. Video captured by hospital cameras showed the couple arriving at the building's entrance. Perez was quickly wheeled inside the hospital by Davila.

The surveillance video showed Perez looking uncomfortable as they approached the elevator. She was visibly worried while sitting in her wheelchair. What followed moments later was astonishing, with Perez wheeled out of the elevator with her baby girl already in her hands. Perez named her daughter Mia.

Davila wants to be part of baby's life after the heroic act

Davila said that he felt like he had another baby following his heroic act. Davila added that he wants to be part of the baby's life, celebrating Mother's Day and birthdays with them and coming along as she grows. Davila, who is a father to two adult children, noted that baby Mia seems like she will be another one of his kids.

Jay DeVenny, Medical City's CEO of Medical City Women's Hospital Dallas, later issued a statement praising the security guard's actions during the emergency delivery. DeVenny stated that Eli's quick assessment and willingness to help a patient in need speaks to their colleague's commitment to delivering excellent care.

Perez is not the only mother who recently gave birth in an unexpected location, according to Today. Kentucky mom Heather Skaats gave birth to her baby on the side of a road while her five other kids sat in the vehicle. Skaats said she had light contractions before they left, so she figured she had time to run an errand.

Skaats and Martin give birth in unexpected locations

Skaats believed that her due date was three weeks away, and she labored for hours with her older kids. Skaats was wrong, though, as her contractions intensified and started coming very close to each other while driving.

Skaats pulled over and was in a squat position on the ground when her water suddenly broke. Skaats said the delivery was quick, and she did not even have to push. She was able to catch her baby boy with her own two hands. He weighed seven pounds.

Shakeria Martin also had a memorable delivery as she gave birth to a baby girl while she was on a Frontier Airlines flight from Denver to Orlando. According to the New York Post, flight attendant Diana Giraldo came to her rescue, helping Martin into a back lavatory, where she delivered a baby girl.
