Tracing one's family background is challenging enough and the latest installment of the long-running series, "Long List Family," highlights these emotional journeys with both a hint of sadness and relief.

"Long Lost Family" presenter Davina McCall told Yahoo! Life that they have had some guests upset and angry during their filming because of the secrets they have discovered about their biological roots. As the host, McCall said that she does not attempt to pacify these feelings at all as the guests are entitled to react the way they should while going through the process.

It is McCall who breaks the news to the guests about their family background. In the new season, "Born Without a Trace," McCall helps adults who have been abandoned as babies. She said that her "news" is so enormous to the guests that she makes sure to take at least three minutes to let them process what they have learned from her.

Abandoned Dad Finds Out His Biological Parents Remain Married

Andy Hallsworth, one of the guests, knew he was adopted since he was a little boy. Now 56 years old, the father told Daily Mirror that he had always assumed that his parents gave him up because they were struggling to raise a baby or they were not going to work out their marriage as they were still too young.

He eventually learned from his adoptive father that he was actually an abandoned baby. He was 37 years old at that time and only had a newspaper clipping of that baby left in the church.

In 2021, he worked with McCall for "Long Lost Family" to find out more about his biological parents. They found a match on a genealogy website, who was his biological sister.

Hallsworth then learned that his parents never separated and went on to have more children whom they never gave up for adoption. He also learned that they had to abandon him because his mother's family was very religious and he was borne out of wedlock.

However, Hallsworth also found out that his parents searched for him for six weeks after leaving him on the steps of the church. He realized his real parents loved him but their circumstances forced them to make painful choices.

While his real parents have died, Hallsworth was still able to reunite with his biological grandmother who apologized to him. If not for her beliefs, his mom and dad would have not abandoned him.

"I said that I didn't need an apology and that there was nothing to forgive," Hallsworth said because he ended up with a loving adoptive family who gave him a happy childhood.

Abandoned Sisters Discover Each Other

Sisters Natasha and Leanne were just days old when they were abandoned at two different hospitals. They had no idea about each other's existence until "Long Lost Family."

Natasha got in touch with the show because she wanted to learn about her biological mom but McCall told her they did not have any DNA match. They did, however, find her full biological sibling, Leanne.

Apparently, 18 months before Natasha's abandonment, their mother also left Leanne at another hospital bathroom. Both grew up with the knowledge that they were adopted but that was all they knew from their childhood.

Natasha and Leanne said that they feel no resentment towards their biological mom because she likely did what she had to do. Both sisters also kept the baby blankets that covered and protected them, as the only piece that attaches them to their mother.

According to Daily Mail, the sisters are still hopeful they will find their mom someday. For now, they are reconnecting and looking for more answers about their family.
