A typical Saturday morning for a quick errand for mom Caroline Akhtar turned into a public embarrassment after her 4-year-old son pooped in the display toilet of a local DIY store.

In what was now a viral post on Facebook, the mom wrote that she and her husband, Azzy Akhtar, were only there to purchase a washing line at a Glastonbury store. One quick turn, however, and they found Jacob doing a big dump in one of the lines of toilets on display, and he didn't get off after hearing his mother call him out because he "needed to finish."

Caroline could not believe what happened, but the shop assistant was, fortunately, amused by the faux pas. Caroline also shared photos of her husband scooping out their son's poop from the display toilet. Azzy was cringing at what he was doing, but he had no choice.

Jacob Tried to Blame His Sister

Mom and dad were mortified about what happened, but this quickly turned into a laughing matter after explaining to Jacob that he should never use the display toilets. However, according to Need To Know, Jacob also explained to his mother that his sister, Frankie, 3, said he could use it.

After sharing her story, Caroline's post received a lot of reactions from other parents. One said she would have likely walked out of the store and left her family. Another parent said they'd done quite a good job of potty training their toddler.

Other parents shared similar stories of their kids mistaking display toilets for actual toilets. One mom said her daughter even used her stuffed toy to wipe herself after she pooped.

The Akhtar parents said in a TV interview with "This Morning" that this will be a good story to rehash with their son when he's a lot older. Caroline said that Jacob is already the kind of kid who can laugh at himself and see the funny side of things.

DIY Store Staff See This All the Time

Meanwhile, workers at DIY stores are not surprised by this incident because they always find poop in their display toilets. In January, a customer had to share her "discovery" when she visited a store to purchase a toilet. She found one that had been used and had the specimen to prove it.

A worker replied to her post and said that it's not unusual at all, and in many cases, it is someone's child who defecates on the display toilet if they are too scared to bother their parents. The customer, however, received an apology from the store and informed the public that the used display toilet had been "appropriately sanitized," according to Lad Bible.

Pooping accidents and setbacks in kids happen, especially if they are still learning to use the bathroom properly. Experts, however, tell parents not to get angry at their children because this negativity can lead to other issues tied to peeing and pooping.
