Pandemic fatigue has taken its toll on some moms who deserve a vacation all by themselves and leave the care of their kids to other family members. After two years of tending to everyone during the lockdowns and homeschooling, it's high time moms travel solo and relish the chance to do something else besides their mommy duties.

The reality is that relaxing via travel is a luxury for many moms, especially if they have small children. However, everyone deserves a break to recharge and recover, so they return home with renewed energy to take care of their family again.

Here are some fun ideas for traveling solo for moms who need to recharge:

1. Start small and take a short trip.

Unsure about leaving the children? You can pick a vacation spot somewhere closer to home instead of going all out with an international adventure. There might be resort spas or glamping facilities in the next town or suburb that you could visit for the weekend.

You might also consider renting a hotel room in the city and treat or pamper yourself with the services of a five-star facility. Ms Travel Solo recommends hotel staycations once in a while to "take a break from life." Here, moms can read a page-turner in the still and quiet hotel room or soak in the tub without someone knocking on the door every few minutes to ask for something.

2. Join an organized tour.

Moms anxious about exploring a new place alone can sign up for an organized tour for at least a portion of their vacation. Group tours will allow you to build confidence and acclimate to the area, especially in the first 24 hours.

The tour will also be an opportunity to make new friends, even just for this trip. By the second or third day of the vacation, you can be more confident to venture solo and go around the town or city independently.

When In My Journeys recommend group tours for its organized itinerary. The scheduled visits to landmarks or iconic places will make the trip worthwhile.

3. Check out the local events.

Before the visit, check if there are exciting local events on your planned travel dates. Aside from the organized tours, there might be pub crawls, restaurant openings, sports activities, a concert, or a community event that you will experience once in your life. Even if you don't know anyone, you'll have a unique experience that will make this vacation more memorable.

4. Embrace eating alone.

For one meal during your solo travel, try to sit in a busy restaurant and embrace eating alone, soak everything - the food, the noise, the people, the ongoings outside - to titillate your senses. It might seem awkward at first, but celebrity chef Nigella Lawson told The Guardian that it's one of her favorite things to do when traveling solo.

"I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it being just me and my food," she said.
