A British mom has redefined the meaning of pushing others to succeed in an educational setting. A now-viral video has captured the appalling moment a cheating mom shoved a rival mother to the ground to win a competition at her daughter's school in the United Kingdom.

Katie McDermott told SWNS in an interview that she told her daughter she would be number one, so she had to be. The incident occurred while the 25-year-old mom was racing against other parents and children during the school's sports day in Coventry.

The hypercompetitive mother was willing to do anything to get ahead in the race, according to the New York Post. The viral clip starts off innocently enough with mothers and their children sprinting back and forth on a grass track.

McDermott sends rival mom flying with a nudge

However, the competition took a turn for the worse during the final stretch, where the red-haired McDermott can be seen trailing another mom by a few paces. Realizing that she is about to lose the race, the pushy parent gave her rival mom a shove, sending the parent toppling face first onto the field.

McDermott described the incident, saying she could see the other parent winning, so she just gave her a quick nudge, but she took off in the air. McDermott explained that she did not know what possessed her to do it, saying she was thinking about how she wanted to win so badly.

The competitive mom said the moment was particularly awkward as she did not know very well the mother she nudged, the Daily Mail reported. Fortunately, while everyone was shocked by McDermott's actions at the time, she said they carried on as usual afterward. McDermott has since apologized for resorting to the dirty tactic, telling the mom that she nudged that she is sorry for pushing her.

A more serious case of parental violence happened in Texas

In a more serious case of parental violence, a Texas mom was charged with assaulting several kids and a referee at a middle school basketball game back in February. Cops said the incident started when referee Greg Ivanovsky tossed a player after she punched another girl during the basketball game.

Ivanovsky told KDFW that the player returned to the court after the game to continue the fight. Things escalated when the ejected girl's mom, Dominique Graham, punched the player her daughter was fighting with in the face.

Ivanovsky said to himself then that this would not happen, and he would not allow this. He was shocked when he found himself involved in the melee, with the mother hitting him with a left hook across the mouth, sending his glasses sideways in the process.
