According to authorities, a Southern California dermatologist was arrested the previous week for allegedly poisoning her husband.

Dr. Yue Yu or also known as Emily Yu was a California dermatologist, 45 years old, and her husband, Jack Chen, radiologist, 53 years old, accused her of poisoning him with Drano, a brand of drain cleaner. According to Chen, it happened on three different occasions which occurred in July, and even catch Yu in the act of poisoning Jack. According to court documents, the tape was already handed over to the Irvine Police Department.

The dermatologist's defense attorney, David Wohl, told ABC News that all of the allegations against his client are absolutely and unequivocally false.

According to the authorities and court documents, the radiologist had reportedly gotten sick for more than a month and he suspected her wife of putting drain cleaner in his tea and lemonade.

Lt. Bill Bingham said that the husband wanted to catch his wife in the act of poisoning him and decided to put hidden cameras at home and recorded the evidence in the case. The spouse captured the evidence which supports his suspicion.

Following a search warrant, Emily was arrested.

Secretly records the act to prove his suspicion

In a news release from Irvine Police Department, the dermatologist was arrested on Thursday and booked at Orange County Jail. Charges have yet to be filed but according to the jail records, she posted an amount of $30,000 and was released on Friday.

According to the authorities, Chen sustained internal injuries but will soon recover after being allegedly poisoned. The doctor has diagnosed him with two Stomach Ulcers, Gastritis, and Esophagitis.

Jack also filed a divorce and a domestic violence temporary restraining order on August 5 against his wife of ten years for himself and on behalf of their two children. He claimed that Yu was abusive in all aspects towards their children and him. He also alleged that his wife's mother, Yuojng Gu or also known as Amy Gu was abusive towards him and their children. According to the court documents, he asked for sole custody of the two children.

Wohl, on the other hand, said that her client has never in any way, shape or form, attempted to hurt her husband or her children. What the defense attorney can also is that these accusations and allegations seem an advantage in the divorce and custody case. The videos do not really show that Yu was trying to poison her husband or harm anyone in the family.

Court records show that Chen filed both restraining orders against his wife and divorce on the same day, per NBC News.

Health issues prompted the radiologist to set up hidden cameras

The couple was married in 2012 and have two children, ages seven and eight. Yu is a dermatologist with Mission Heritage Medical Group which is affiliated with Providence Mission Hospital but her office is not located in the hospital.

A spokesperson for the hospital said that the Mission Heritage Medical Group is giving its full cooperation on the active police investigation as the incident of domestic matter occurred in Irvine and they wanted to provide the community an assurance that the incident will not have any impact on patients.

According to Wohl, Emily is a well-respected dermatologist and her goal has always been to help people and never harm them. She strongly denies her husband's allegation and claims of abusing her husband and their children.

Atty. Steven Hittelman, Chen's attorney, told USA TODAY that his client began noticing chemical taste in his drinks and decided to go to the doctor as he soon developed symptoms of health issues.
