The terrifying incident of a small child falling out of a moving SUV occurred on Tuesday. It was captured on a dash camera onto I-69 in the City's South West.

According to Daily Mail, the footage began when the red SUV turned right at a traffic stop to proceed onto the feeder, which happens to be next to the Interstate, when the small child, who has still not been identified, fell out of the red car, and sent sprawling across the road. Fortunately, there were no other vehicles on the feeder at that time.

An adult woman, wearing a gray beanie, came running as she got off the car, picked up the shirtless child, and brought it back with her to the car.

According to the Houston Police Department (HPD), they were unaware of the incident until several media outlets asked and reached out for their comments. Daily Mail has asked the Police Department for any updates. As of Wednesday evening, both the identity of the driver and the child have not been disclosed.

A similar incident also occurred on Texas Roadway

The same incident of a baby falling out of a moving vehicle happened in 2017. Claudia Alanis, the woman who caught the incident on her dash-cam, said she was about to return to work after lunch when the child fell out in front of her car during a red light. She started honking to alert other drivers of the incident.

Fortunately, a trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety was nearby, saw the incident, stepped in to assist the child, and provided what the baby needed. Due to the fall, the one-year-old sustained several scrapes and bruises but was treated at the scene. Jocelyn Nicole Hernandez, 26 years old, was cited for having an unrestrained child in the car by the Police Department, which investigated the incident.

According to The Dallas Morning News, the footage showed a one-year-old who fell out of a moving car onto an occupied Laredo street. The baby fell as the SUV driver turned right into an intersection.

Falls as an accident, a risky one

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, falls are the most common reason for nonfatal injuries in children and also the leading cause. Data showed that more than 50 percent of children's nonfatal injuries are caused by falls and the age bracket is usually under one.

Ei Ye Mon, M.D., a pediatrician, said that some children who experience falling might seem okay, but they are not, especially infants under 12 months of age, as they can have severe injuries due to their fragile skulls, making falling more dangerous for them.

The younger the kids are, the more risk they can develop for a serious head injury no matter how high they fell, per Health Cleaveland Clinic.
