New Jersey Dad Who Went Missing During Family Camping Trip Found Dead in Pennsylvania

A New Jersey dad who went missing during a family camping trip in the state of Pennsylvania was found dead near the area where he vanished from, according to People Magazine.

Pennsylvania State Police told Patch that Adrien Hachey was reported missing last Sunday after his family woke up and could not find him around 10:24 a.m. local time at their campsite in Hazle Township, Pennsylvania.

Law enforcement officials began searching for the 43-year-old soon after. Northeast Search and Rescue, Hazle Township Fire and Rescue, and local dive teams also joined in the search for Hachey. Pennsylvania State Police asked anyone with information about the missing Basking Ridge, New Jersey native to call the Hazleton Barracks at 570-459-3890.

 Hachey found dead one day after his disappearance 

Police issued a statement, saying that the investigation into Adrien Hachey resulted in him being located deceased the day after he went missing at a campsite in Hazle Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Cops added that the search for Hachey included various first responder agencies, land and water search, and rescue operations.

Hachey was found dead in a small body of water near where he was camping with his four sons and girlfriend and her three kids one day after he was initially reported missing. Police said that his cause of death had been listed as accidental. They said their thoughts are with the family and friends of Hachey during this difficult time.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Anthony Petroski III told New Jersey 101.5 that there appears to be nothing suspicious about the death of Hachey, but the investigation remains open.

An obituary for Hachey posted on Legacy.com shared that he worked as a union mason for 25 years before his death. They described Hachey as someone who enjoyed camping, motorsports, and spending time with his family.

GoFundMe page set up to raise funds for Hachey's sons

His obituary requests that mourners consider donating to a GoFundMe page that was set up to raise money for the education of his sons after his death. The description on the page, which appears to have been created on behalf of the kids' grandparents, read that Adrien loved his boys deeply and would want to ensure their successful futures.

According to the GoFundMe page, the donated funds will be kept in trust by the children's grandparents, Rheal and Rose-Marie Hachey, to cover a portion of what is needed for the kids' education.

The GoFundMe page has raised $25,972 of its stated $50,000 goal as of Monday evening. According to the GoFundMe page, Hachey's eldest son, Reid, is 16, while his younger siblings Nathan, Alec, and Evan are 14, 11, and 9, respectively.
