An Oklahoma father is issuing a challenge to dads worldwide and offering to help them with what he calls the best letter they will ever write, according to 2 News Oklahoma.

Bixby native Blake Brewer is on a mission to help fathers create a lasting legacy, and it all traces back to a letter he received from his dad, Larry.

Brewer said his dad was a big guy, and the Atlanta Falcons had drafted him to play football. He added that his father's main claim to fame was he was Terry Bradshaw's tight end at Louisiana Tech.

Brewer receives a letter from dad hours after he drowned in Hawaii

Brewer said that when he was 19, they went on a family vacation to Hawaii, and of course, he was excited to go and be there with his dad. They went to the beach the first day they were there.

Unfortunately for Brewer, it went from being one of the best moments in his life to his worst. His dad got caught in the waves in an area called Witches Brew and tragically drowned.

Just hours later, Blake's mom found a letter from his father meant for him and his siblings. The letter was found in his dad's briefcase.

Brewer said that his father had no idea that when he wrote the letter, it would be his last words to him, but it was everything he needed at that moment. He said no one should tell him his dad did not love him.

According to Brewer, those words by his dad not only comforted him in grief but also carried him through college and inspired him as a father. Blake has turned his painful story into one of positivity nearly 20 years later by creating the Legacy Letter Challenge.

Brewer challenges dads to write lasting legacy letters to their children

He said he is on a mission to help one million dads write one meaningful, lasting legacy letter to their kids. Think of this challenge as a love letter from dad. He said that if you were to put the most powerful thing everyone wants to hear from their dad in one letter, then this is it.

Brewer said that the best time to write a letter to their kids is now, and he is here to help them. Brewer said he holds workshops, online courses, and a program for moms. Since starting this challenge a couple of years ago, he has inspired around a thousand letters, according to The Money Advantage.

He said that some dads who have taken the challenge are in the army, some are CEOs, and some work with their hands. Brewer added that there are religious guys, non-religious guys, and all of the above. All of them share the same desire to authentically communicate their lasting love for their kids through these letters.
