Whele LLC Voluntarily Recalls Mighty Bliss Electric Heating Pad Due To Safety Concerns

Whele LLC is the leading and ultimate consumption goods company that markets products on Amazon and other third-party marketplaces. This is where most shipments originate. While doing business as Perch, it also operates as a technology-enabled consumer products company which means the company itself acquires and operates FBA or Fulfillment by Amazon businesses.

On October 18, 2022, the Whele LLC, of Boston, voluntarily recalls Mighty Bliss Electric Heating Pad because of product safety concerns as the use of a such product may eventually lead to burns, mild shocks, and rashes or irritation. This recall applies to 544,212 Mighty Bliss Electric Heating Pad units that were manufactured between January 8, 2021, go January 3, 2022, and were distributed from July 29, 2021, through July 21, 2022. It was sold via Amazon.com and Walmart.com.

What is the reason for this recall?

Such recall has been initiated because of product safety concerns as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) received approximately 286 complaints between July 2021 to September 2022 linked with overheating, sparking, burning, and presenting other electrical problems of the product. 31 of the complaints were reported injuries such as mild, shocks, burns, and irritation.

Using the products aforementioned may gradually lead to electric shocks and/or skin irritation, blisters, and burns. Severe burns may result in the formation of scar tissue; FDA advised certain distributors of the product to immediately examine the inventory and quarantine the product subject to recall and FDA will be in contact soon to gather any remaining inventory for any destruction.

How hot do heating pads get?

For heating pads, one can choose a temperature from the following settings such as Low: 110°F Medium: 138°F High: 160°F. Some heating pads are engineered to never exceed 176°F as this is the temperature set by Underwriters Laboratory (UL).
