Two twin girls are left without a father and mother after both of their parents were tragically killed in a car crash on Friday, November 4.

Liza Spiridon lost her sister Grace and brother-in-law Greg Ammen in the fatal crash. Spiridon was emotional when talking to KRON about her sister, saying she was her best friend and felt she had lost a part of her.

According to Spiridon, the family had just had dinner when the crash occurred. She said her sister was driving home with her husband and their seven-year-old twin daughters in the vehicle when the crash happened. The collision occurred along El Camino Real at the intersection with Finger Avenue.

Twin girls' parents killed on impact

Cops responded to the crash at around 8 p.m. and found two cars mangled on the sidewalk. Redwood City Fire Department said that Greg and Grace were both killed on impact. The twin girls were both deemed okay after the crash, but sadly, they are without parents.

Spiridon said that they have to take it moment by moment and love and support them. She added that the twins were the reason they are all stepping up as a family right now. According to Spiridon, her sister had a double MBA from Cal Berkeley and Columbia University. Grace, who was also a runner, was recently promoted at Google.

Liza said that even though she is the older sister, her younger sister Grace was smarter. She said she struggled with math in her younger years, but Grace tutored her even though Liza was three years older.

One witness who saw the crash said they were going pretty fast and looked like they were racing. The 17-year-old behind the wheel of the other vehicle and two passengers survived the deadly crash, according to SFGate.

Spiridon hopes that justice will be served and those responsible for her sister and brother-in-law's deaths will be held accountable. She blasted the teen driver who thought drag racing on El Camino was a smart idea. She said the driver did not realize the ramifications of his actions which caused two kids to lose their parents.

Redwood City leaders issued a statement on Monday, acknowledging the fatal crash over the weekend. Mayor Giselle Hale said that this was a tragic event for all involved, and on behalf of the Redwood City Council, they extend their deepest sympathies to the two young children who tragically lost their parents.

Mayor Hale said in her statement that counseling would be available to families, students, and first responders at the crash scene. The family had also started a GoFundMe campaign to help support the twin daughters of the deceased parents, according to NBC Bay Area.
