From what sparks joy to sparking a debate

Unlike his emotional retirement essay last year, Brady opted to announce his second retirement simply and in the most direct way.

He recorded himself telling his fans and the public that he was "retiring for good." He stated that when he woke up, he just figured to record and let his fans know firsthand. He then posted the video on his Instagram account Wednesday with the caption that expresses love and gratitude to his family, teammates, friends, coaches, and football.

He also stressed that there was nothing he would change about his career.

Brady played for 23 seasons in the NFL and won seven Super Bowl titles during that period. He announced his first retirement last year in February, only to change his mind 40 days later.

According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, he informed the Buccaneers of his decision at 6 A.M. that Wednesday.

The owners of the Buccaneers, the Glazer family, expressed in a statement that the ex-quarterback has a "legendary career" that "set an exceptional standard," placing the entire organization to new heights and making numerous most iconic moments in football history.
