Alleged 7-Year-Old Suspect Sought in DC Food Truck Robbery Spree

A 7-year-old is one of the suspects behind the most recent food truck robbery.

Robberies in food trucks have been increasing at an alarming rate. Some of these crimes were caught on video.

These robbers were allegedly armed with guns and knives, usually stealing cash and belongings from the food trucks.

7-year-old suspect in DC food truck robbery

The District of Columbia Police Department is actively searching for a robbery suspect believed to be between the ages of seven and 10, according to a report from WUSA9.

Although the details surrounding the robbery were not yet known, including the method used, what was taken, the location of the crime, and whether or not the young suspect was armed, the authorities had confirmed that the suspect was as young as seven years old.

The police described the appearance of the young suspect, who was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, gray gloves, and a multi-colored backpack.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) released a tweet regarding the robbery just before 5:30 P.M. The crime took place in the 1400 block of 11th St. NW.

 

In addition to searching for the 7-year-old suspect, the police department is also searching for an adult accomplice who was with the young suspect during the robbery.

This accomplice had been described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and gray gloves.

According to DC News NOW, the police had made public a surveillance footage in connection to a string of food truck robberies in Montgomery County.

Authorities were hunting for individuals they suspected to be connected to the thefts. The police stated that the series of robberies began in January 2023 and had impacted food trucks throughout Montgomery County and Takoma Park.

Takoma Park food truck robberies

Takoma Park and Montgomery County Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the culprits behind a series of food truck robberies.

The first reported incident occurred on January 23 at Elvira's Kitchen Food Truck on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.

An initial investigation showed that two Hispanic male suspects approached the truck at around 2:55 P.M., jumped over the barrier, and entered the truck.

Once inside, one of the suspects pulled an object from his waistband, causing the employee to believe it was a weapon and flee the truck.

The suspects made off with an undisclosed sum of money and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

According to Source of the Spring, MCPD said the suspects were two Hispanic males aged 18 and 25 with thin builds.

The suspects entered the food trucks, displayed weapons in each subsequent robberies, and took cash. These thefts occurred at the following food trucks on the following dates:

  • Vanessa's Pupuseria on Piney Branch Road on Thursday, February 2 at 5:05 P.M.
  • Pupuseria Luisa on New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park on January 27 at approximately 4 P.M.
  • Pupuseria y Taquiera Lupita Food Truck on New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park on January 20 at around 3 P.M.
  • Pupuseria Luisa on New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park on January 13 at approximately 2 P.M.

Anyone with any information regarding these crimes is urged to contact the police at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). The police are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to an arrest.
