According to the timeline provided by the Hoover police, she had contact with a relative during this time, but communication was subsequently lost.

While the initial focus was on locating the purported missing child on the interstate, the investigation took an alarming turn when no evidence of a toddler wandering on the road was found, and video footage showed numerous vehicles passing through the area.
