'Iron Man 4' Cast & Release Date: Plot Details Reported, Robert Downey Jr. Will Meet The Real Mandarin & Battle Ten Rings? [Rumors]

Fans are very excited for the next installment of "Iron Man." Many are hoping that the versatile actor Robert Downey Jr. will still reprise his role for "Iron Man 4." However, aside from the casting, many are also wondering what the storyline of the upcoming flick will be.

Since Marvel is very secretive with their films, very little is known about "Iron Man 4." Marvel loves to surprise their fans. In fact, just recently, Marvel surprised fans with their announcement of a new "Ant-Man and the Wasp" movie, DigitalSpy has learned.

Moreover, until now they haven't released the much awaited trailer for "Captain America: Civil War." They sure are expert in keeping their fans obsessed with their films by withholding the details. They are also very good in teasing fans, to keep the hype about their projects intense.

In fact, Marvel just announced three 2020 dates (May 1, July 10 and Nov. 6) for more films. Now, fans are guessing if the said dates are for "Thor 4," "Iron Man 4" and "Pepper Pots." Nothing is confirmed than the given dates because Marvel wanted the public to wonder what those dates are for intentionally.

However, for those who want to know more about "Iron Man 4" here's the latest scope we have about the film. Director Shane Black already confirmed that Downey Jr. will star in the anticipated film "Iron Man 4" putting an end to the rumors that the actor would retire, Inquisitr reports.

Moreover, there  are speculations that "Iron Man 4" will be based on the Ten Rings, a terrorist organization that is devoted to disturb the world peace at all cost. Ten Rings is headed by the Mandarin, the group behind the kidnapping of Tony Stark in the original "Iron Man" movie.

According to Christian Today, a potential plot could also revolve to a new "Iron Man" since there was no final agreement between Marvel execs and Downey Jr. at the time.

In an earlier report from Parent Herald, Ty Simpkins, 13, might replace the 49-year-old actor for the role. Simpkins earned a nomination for his performance in "Iron Man 3." However, although Simpkins has an impressive resume it is unlikely for Marvel Studios  to believe that the younger actor has the same presence and charisma to replace Downey Jr.

Moreover, there is no doubt that Downey Jr. has a great contribution in the success of "Iron Man." As Cinema Blend puts it, "if Robert Downey Jr. hadn't been cast as Tony Stark, then Marvel wouldn't have achieved their subsequent success."

While it is still unknown when "Iron Man 4" will be released, we can see the superhero in "Captain America: Civil War" which will hit the big screens on May 6, 2016.
