'Thor: Ragnarok' Plot, Release Date & Cast: Shooting Confirmed To Be In Australia; Chris Hemworth Featured In New Superhero Film? [Video]

The third movie to the "Thor" franchise, "Thor: Ragnarok," is set to be filmed in Australia as confirmed by Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop, according to Sydney Morning Herald. This is the home country of the movie's main star, Chris Hemsworth, who has thanked his government for allowing this to happen.

In a video statement, Hemworth particularly expressed his gratitude towards Bishop and Australia's Minister for the Arts, Mitch Fifield. "I'm incredibly excited to be coming back home to work and here with our extremely talented production industry which I think is one of the best in the world. It's fantastic to see the government and the Prime Minister supporting our creative industries," said the actor, according to Comic Book. "I look forward to introducing my Marvel friends to this beautiful country of ours."

Set with a November 2017 theater release, "Thor: Ragnarok" will close the chapters of Marvel Cinematic Universe's Asgardian trilogy. In the last offering, the movie ended in a cliffhanger that showed Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) disguising himself as their father Odin (played by Anthony Hopkins) in the hopes of claiming the throne of Asgard.

In the upcoming movie, another Marvel character, The Hulk (played Mark Ruffalo), will be helping out Thor in a story that doesn't take place in Earth or in Asgard, according to Variety. Further details about the film's plot have yet to be revealed, but aside from Hemsworth and Hiddleston, Jamie Alexander is also expected to reprise her role as Lady Sif. Production for the third movie will begin in 2016 with Taika Waititi tapped as director.

Meanwhile, as news of "Thor's" filming location has been confirmed, Hemsworth released a hilarious video on his Instagram account that featured him meeting another superhero.

In it, the actor was with a friend as they drove around in a car, when a guy "flying" by their car's window tapped on it to ask for directions. Hemsworth's followers on the social media site had a good laugh at the stunt and the video has received over 40,000 likes so far.

The short film is apparently the actor's first video post on Instagram, as he only joined the social site over a week ago, according Comic Book Resources.  He has already posted a few photos of his family and friends and one with photo where he carried his daughter as he worked out on the treadmill.
