'Call of Duty Black Ops 3' Release Date & Trailer: PC Mods, Mapping Set For 2016, PS3, Xbox 360 Update Limitations Revealed

PC gamers who enjoy "Call of Duty Black Ops 3" are in for a treat by 2016, as Activision and its developer, Treyarch, announced that the platform will be getting new mods and mapping tools.

The announcement was posted on Treyarch's community website, which also indicated that the PC modifications will be released by March 2016. The developer stated that this was one of the "top requests" from PC players, so they listened and granted the updates to the game.

With this upcoming addition, players will be able to create their own maps and modes to "Black Ops 3" through an "Unranked Dedicated Server Files." Gamers will also be able to make use of the "Unranked Server Browser," which will allow for other players to join each other's modded servers.

Treyarch also said that there's so much PC gamers can look forward to as the game's Open Beta timing is being cooked up, but Yahoo reported that it's still unclear if the mods will make it possible for playing the game in in consoles like the PlayStation or Xbox. The same concept is already being adapted for "Fallout 4" for the PS4, according to Cinema Blend.

Meanwhile, those playing "Call of Duty Black Ops 3" on the PS3 and Xbox 360 will have to contend with some limitations as PC gamers received the good news. Last-gen console gamers already know that the latest release will be without the campaign mode and Season Pass, but Express reported that there's actually more missing elements.

Game features like the Weapon Paint Shop, Theater tools and eSports CODCasting are no longer present for the PS3 and Xbox 360 as these are exclusive contents for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One releases. There will also be no more giant bonus maps in "Black Ops 3" Zombie mode for last-gen consoles. The revelation was unveiled when the "Shadows of Evil" storyline leaked, according to Express.

"Call of Duty Black Ops 3" officially comes out on Nov. 6 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Meanwhile, players in the United States who would like to get their hands on the game as soon as possible can do so via Amazon's Prime Now. The Verge reported that the service promises to do midnight deliveries on Nov. 6, but in order to facilitate this, the site will open pre-order by Nov. 4. However, Amazon is advising gamers in advance that "there is limited availability within each delivery window."
