MacBook Pro vs Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro: Which is Better? Samsung Launches 2 New Laptops [Price, Specs & Features]

Korean tech giant Samsung has unveiled two new laptops that are slated for release this month, just in time for the holidays.

Adding the two new laptop models to their ATIV Book line, Samsung's new introductions serve as challengers to the other laptops that are currently facing-off in the market.

PC Magazine reported that the two laptops have processors that are almost similar in power, although one model is a traditional laptop, while one is a convertible model.

Slash Gear said that at first glance, the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Pro laptop can already be differentiated from the Ativ Book 9 Spin convertible. Both of them have amazingly sharp displays and will run on Windows 10.

The Pro has a 15.6-inch 3840 x 2160 4K resolution display. It reportedly has HDR enhancements, giving it optimized display capabilities. Additionally, it has an outdoor mode, making it usable even under direct sunlight. It also has touchscreen capabilities too.

A powerful system, the Pro is powered by a brand-new Intel Core i7 6700HQ processor coupled with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M graphics card (includes 2GB GDDR5 memory). It comes with three USB 3.0 ports, one USB-C port, one 4K HDMI port, and an SD card reader.

It's bigger than the the other model, measuring 14.72 x 9.83 x 07 inches, and heavier at 4.45 lbs.

The convertible hybrid, Ativ Book 9 Spin, features a 360-degree dual hinge that enables the user to use the laptop as a tablet, or let it stand via tent mode. It's equipped with a 13.3-inch QHD+ (3200x1800) resolution touchscreen display. Reportedly, what's displayed on the screen can also be seen outdoors, thanks to its capability to emit 700 nits.

The Spin is also powered by a powerful Intel Core i7 6500U (not as powerful as the 6700HQ). However, it is only backed by Intel HD Graphics (with shared memory). Although there's no USB-C port, it has three USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, and a microSD card reader.

Smaller of the two, it measures 12.39 x 8.69 x 0.59 inches, and weighs lighter at 2.87 lbs.

Both laptops will come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, and will be available starting this month, either from Samsung or Best Buy.

The Ativ Book 9 Pro is priced starting at $1,599 for the base model, while the Ativ Book 9 Spin starts at $1,399. Both units will come against other Windows laptops such as the new Surface Book, the Lenovo Yoga 900, as well as the Apple MacBook Pro.
